My way of coming to peace with loss: Priyanka

E-mail Print PDF

"Meeting and Adopting Malini was my way of coming to peace with violence and loss that I have experienced," said Priyanka Agrawal in a dignified statement on today morning, just hours after OUN reported her meeting with the sole surviving member of the canine family which came under her Car on wee hours of Sunday morning.

Priyanka?s confirmation of the report - a poignant story of a commuter's troubled memory and her attempt to bring a closure by visiting Malini and coming to terms with the tragedy caused by her car on Sunday morning -was matter of fact: "It is true that I visited Malini at Animal hospital in powai on Monday."

"I would like to say it was a purely personal visit that I undertook completely on my initiative," Priyanka added.

"I would be deeply grateful if this could be respected. I don't believe in anger, hatred and violence and I refuse to allow it to overpower my life. It was my way of showing my support to the poor animal, which had just lost her family members in an accident with my car"

Soon after Priyanka issued the statement, her father said he understood his daughter's sentiments.

"We do not carry anger or violence, whatever happened that morning was not Priyanka fault, but she still feels guilty for the loss of that family" he told reporters.

In reply to a question as to why Priyanka had undertaken this "exercise", Mr.Agarawal said it wasn't an "exercise". It was a genuine desire to meet the surviving victim; and to adopt and give it a family?

Others said the comment should not dilute the fact, that Priyanka was solely responsible for the accident,? only if she would have used the horn, instead of observing the no-honking day" said some closed friends of her.

Praising the actions of
Priyanka close family friend Rajiv Tripatahi said, "It shows the large-heartedness of Priyanka."
