In a
patriotic remark, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Wednesday
advocated the creation of "Hindu suicide squads" to fight the scourge
of "Islamic terrorism". The remarks immediately drew sharp, angry
condemnation from anti-national parties like the CPI saying Thackeray should not attempt to instigate communal strife.
In an editorial soaked in patriotism in the Sena`s mouthpiece
`Saamna`, Thackeray said "the threat of Islamic terror in India is
rising. It is time to counter the same with Hindu terror. Hindu suicide
squads should be readied to ensure existence of Hindu society and to
protect the nation."
Thackeray went on to say that "the Hindus were safe during the Moghul invasion only because the Maratha warrior Shivaji had the courage to raise his swords against them".
The Shiv Sena leader's comments came in the backdrop of the `Hindu
Bomb` allegedly planted by members of Hindu right wing activists in
Thane`s Gadkari auditorium in which seven persons were injured. "It was
heartening to know that it was the supporters of Hindutva who had
exploded the bomb in the theatre. But it was sad to know that it was
planted to hurt the Hindus and I am ashamed about it", Thackeray said
wondering why a Muslim theatre was not attacked.
The
`Saamna` editorial said instead of exploding bombs in theatres it would
be better if they were exploded in "Mini Pakistan" in India where
Bangladeshi infiltrators and Islamic terrorists have made their base.
It said Hindu organizations have to create a revolution. But it cannot
be achieved by putting useless bombs in theatres like 'Gadkari
Rangayatan'.
Meanwhile
Uday Thackeray has flown to Washington, to have a discussions with
Condoleezza Rice over the feasibility of developing a joint International
Squad to combat terrorism." We all know that Muslims are the cause of
terrorism in today's world. It is not Hindus fight against Muslims. It
is the fight of all other religions against the religion of terror."
added the spokesperson.
According to our sources in US government, there may be joint declaration
by Thackeray and Bush against terrorism. The US government plans to
provide Maharashtra with a special status and to waive of visa requirement
for Marathi Manoos. Shiv Sena would in return be expecte to provide moral and
physical support to America's global war against terrorism.
Meanwhile MNS has demanded that Statue of Liberty should be replaced by Statue of Shivaji. "Just like Americans, Maharashtrians are also brave people. It is natural for one brave clan to recognize other." added MNS spokesperson.
"Two great
societies have come together to defend the earth against terrorism. Terrorist attacks can
shake the foundations of our biggest buildings, but they cannot touch
the foundation of our world. These acts shattered steel, but they cannot
dent the steel of our resolve, to free the world from these lunatics ",
said the White House spokesperson, when quizzed about the latest
development.
"America and Maharastra have been targeted for attack because we're the brightest beacon for freedom and opportunity in the world. And no one will keep that light from shining." added the spokesperson.
