BJP leader says party will survive as long as hinduism

Prominent BJP leader, Murli Manohar Joshi today in exclusive interview to onionuttapam.com said that obituaries written for BJP were a bit premature and that the party would survive as long as Hinduism continues to survive in this country. The professor of physics who was also a high-ranking minister in  Vajpayee's cabinet reminded detractors of BJP that Hinduism is the oldest surviving religion in the world and the only pagan religion that has survived the modern age of monolithic religions. "A political party that is based on the values and principles of the oldest religion in the world can never die" thundered Joshi.

Joshi said that the present controversies surrounding the party were insignificant and would not in any way damage the long-term health of the party. "Our sickular media which doesn't appreciate or understand our glorious Hindu culture is making mountains out of molehills."

"All BJP leaders including dissenters have been heavily inspired by Hindu gods and our epic heroes. Their actions are completely consistent with the actions of our mythological heroes and they should be judged by the standards of our ancient Hindu culture and not by west-inspired liberal culture promoted by our media."

leelaJoshi explained to us how every controversial act of the party or any of its leaders was inspired from similar acts of Hindu cultural and religious icons. "Take the example of demolition of the disputed structure at Ayodhya. Our detractors projected the demolition of the structure as one of the biggest crimes of independent India. But we were just following the footsteps of our great hero, son of Vayu, Hanuman who similarly set Lanka on fire with his tail."

"Did Hanuman care that by burning down large parts of the country, he was violating the laws of that land? Did he care that thousands of innocents would lose their homes for no fault of theirs? He was insulted by Ravana and did what any self-respecting hero would do under such circumstances without giving a damn whether the structures that he setting aflame were legal or not, whether they deserved to be burned down or not. Our kar-sevaks by demolishing Babri Mosque, under the leadership of BJP and VHP leaders, did what had to be done to avenge the act of demolition of Ram janmabhoomi temple by Babur. The bringing down of the mosque should be relished and celebrated in the same way, we celebrate the burning down of Lanka by Hanuman"

The BJP leader then compared Narendra Modi to the sixth avataar of Vishnu, Parashurama, who killed 21 generations of Kshtriyas on earth filling five ponds with blood to avenge the death of his father, Jamadagni at the hands of the Kshariya king Sahasrarjuna. "Inspired by Lord Parashurama, who is revered as sixth avataar of Vishnu, Modi avenged the killings of Hindus at Godhara by encouraging his cadres to riot and kill Muslims. Unlike Parashurama, his thirst of revenge was satisfied by killing only a few thousand Muslims. Yet, he was vilified by sick-ulars as a mass-murderer. If its okay for Lord Vishnu to incarnate on earth and exterminate an entire race 21 times to avenge barbarism of one person, why is it wrong for Modi to kill few thousands Muslims to avenge the death of those who died in Godhara and elsewhere due to Islamic terrorism?" asked Joshi, his voice rising to a thunderous pitch.

Joshi defended Advani's & Jaswant Singh's high praise of Jinnah by providing examples from our epics where Hindu icons not only  praised their enemies for their virtues, but also utilized their services in times of need. "Didn't Lord Rama invite his enemy Ravana to perform a pooja specially meant to conquer and destroy him since no other high-ranking priest was available in the vicinity? Ravana being truly a great pundit accepted his preposterous invitation where he blessed Rama for his endeavor to kill him! Even more unbelievably, he brought Sita with him since according to scriptures, Rama was not qualified to install the idol of Shiva in the absence of his wife. Both Rama & Ravana, though arch-enemies on warpath, acted in strict adherence to rules of dharma and showed utmost respect for each other in the finest traditions of Indian culture. Jaswant Singh by authoring a book glorifying Jinnah also acted in the best Hindu traditions of respecting the virtues of your enemies."

So why was he dismissed from the party, we ask.

Joshi again cited an example from Ramayana to justify his expulsion.  "Lord Rama exiled his own wife, the same wife for whom he cried like a baby when she was kidnapped by Ravana, for whose sake he marched towards Lanka and battled with mighty Ravana's army. Though he had full faith in Sita and never suspected her of infidelity, he banished her to forest respecting the wishes of the common people of his kingdom who ridiculed him for keeping an 'unclean' wife. You see, the masses are very simplistic, narrow-minded and highly orthodox in their thinking. They don't understand the values of highly-ranked noblemen. But Lord Rama being a true maryada purshottam honored the wishes of the masses and expelled Sita from his kingdom. Similarly, ordinary BJP cadets cannot be expected to understand noble concepts like respecting the merits of your enemies. For their sake, we had to punish Jaswant Singh and expel him from the party."

Talking on the subject of the shameful Kandahar episode and allegations that LK Advani lied about his ignorance of the fact that Jaswant Singh would be escorting terrorists on the plane to Kandahar, Joshi said that there was absolutely nothing wrong in being economical with truth or even lying when faced with difficult situations. "During Mahabharata war, Lord Krishna creatively lied about the death of elephant Aswathama confusing Dronacharya who assumed that his son named Aswathamma had died, gave up fighting and was killed. Advaniji acted as per the best traditions of electoral warfare emulating Lord Krishna's cunning tactics."

"Even the greatest of our gods were not exempt from disgrace, fall in social status and ignominy. Lord Krishna was cursed by Gandhari that he would die after thirty-six years, all alone and in a miserable state. He died alone in a forest, killed by an ordinary hunter, after losing all his sons and grandsons. Our media should stop sensationalizing the downfall of Advani. If our gods had to face dishonor and shame, whats the big deal about Advani's troubles?

"Its all part of the grand 'leela' of our almighty"

Joshi ended the interview by saying that BJP being a party formed with Hindu value system will survive for a very long time because of the in-built flexibility of Hinduism - its acceptances of contradictions, paradoxes, changing values, thin dividing lines between good and evil and lack of core beliefs or ideology.

"In Hindu religion, there are no fixed rights or wrongs, no commandments, no codes or rules. One rule can be countered by an opposite rule. Every act - good or bad - can be explained using a convenient tenet or a doctrine  We accept the fallibility of both humans and gods. Our gods are not perfect, but we still worship them despite their flaws. With such leeway allowed to us, there is no way we can do anything wrong. Everything we do is always right. Hinduism has survived for so long because of its flexibility. Our party will also survive for the same reason. We are not weakening or disintegrating, merely mutating from one form to another, transitioning from one yuga to another. Its all leela of Ramji, all divine play of Lord Krishna."

Terrific satire on intermingling of religion and politics! your website is getting better and better with each passing day..and of course, it is thought-provoking unlike some of the shitty news spoof blogs whose humor level barely rises above mimicry shows on idiot box.
