shilpa1.jpgShilpa Shetty has done it again. The 31-year-old does not have the kind of audience pull a top actress such as Aishwarya Rai, Rani Mukherjee or Preity Zinta possesses. But she certainly has the knack of being in the news for weirdest possible reasons. This time she is in the news for picking up a some strange 'Global Diversity' award - an award which is granted to people who contribute to a sinister-sounding agenda called 'Diversity Agenda' . This award is generally given to people who accidentally get into tricky situations and in the process of handling the tricky situation they end up unwittingly educating Britons that there are diverse races of humans in the world.

Shilpa accidentally achieved worldwide fame earlier last year when appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in the notorious 'Racism Row', clashing swords with Jade Goody and Danielle Lloyd, two low-grade white trash. According to the organizers of the award, she has been granted this award for 'showing restraint and handling racist remarks against her with poise and dignity'.

At a glittering gala at the Riverbank Park Plaza hotel hosted by the Next Steps Foundation, Shilpa accepted the award with the same poise and dignity that she showed when she faced the racist remarks at the Big Brother television show. "I dedicate this award to my mother who taught me to handle every adverse situation in life with poise and dignity" said Shilpa while accepting the award. "I'm sure if my mom had participated in the show in her youth and had been target of racial abuse, she too would have honorably contributed to Britain's diversity agenda as well'

Her elated mother said  that her daughter fully deserved the award. "Shilpa is capable of turning every petty personal tussle into an opportunity to contribute globally towards some very important cause. She can handle every crisis with poise and dignity and if given opportunity to handle diverse critical situations like sexism or gender bias, apartheid, eve-teasing or discrimination of any kind, she would handle all such situations with dignity and grace."

MP Keith Vaz, Patron of the Next Steps Foundation and UK Ambassador for the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue,
while delivering the award to the bollywood actress said that the actress has set an example to all the victims of racism on how to handle such abuse. "If millions of victims of racism all over the world learn to handle racist abuse with the kind of poise and dignity that Ms Shetty displayed at the sets of the television show, racism will cease to be a problem and we will be living in a xenophobia-less world of peace and harmony"

What would have happened had the bollywood actress not handled the racist remarks with dignity and grace? What if she had vented out her anger, called Jade Goody "low-life white trash", showed her the finger or instructed her to fuck herself? Would her lesser-than-dignified reactions to the provocative situation precluded her from receiving richly-deserved honors?

Not really. Had she handled the delicate situation aggressively, she would have been granted "Global Anti-Racism Award" by Show Racism the Red Card - an organization devoted to combat racism aggressively. The organization believes that racist pigs deserve to be dealt severely and regularly honors celebrities who handle racist abuse with display of ire or by uttering profanities and obscenities.

This of course means that Miss Shetty would have picked up some or other other award no matter what manner she had handled the verbal assault from Jade Goody. Her personal astrologers, Nagraj Joshi is convinced that she is destined to become a great super-heroine who will keep picking up awards and honors whatever she does in her life since Sun and Jupiter are favorably placed in her natal charts bringing her glory in all her future endeavors.

shilpas-contribution.jpgAccording to rumors, Shilpa is in contention for multiple awards in various categories. She is expected to be nominated for Nobel Peace prize. Shilpa's poise and equanimity on the show has impressed viewers worldwide and her act of forgiving tormentor Jade has made the Indian actress an epitome of humanity, a member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee revealed to OU News.

The Nobel committee is also expected to recognize Jade Goody's contribution in provoking Shilpa and enabling her to heroically display her dignity and poise and grant her also a Nobel. (It must be remembered that the Nobel Peace Prize committee believes in rewarding both the parties - aggressor and the victim - with peace prizes in case the aggressor party shows even the slightest of remorse for his/her reprehensible actions and makes an effort to patch up with the victim.)

Meanwhile, back home in India, a billion hearts have swelled in pride on hearing the news of Shilpa Shetty winning the honor. Prior to the actresses participation in the history-making Big Brother show, she was considered just another small-time bollywood item girl and remembered more for her flat tummy than her acting skills. But now after International recognition, Indians are slowly discovering her marvelous qualities - her dignity and poise in handling critical situations and her ability to contribute positively in solving knotty global problems like racism, AIDS and white garbage.

Keeping in line with the great Indian tradition of recognizing great Indian talents after they have won international recognition, Indian Government is expected to honor her with either a Padma Bhushan or a Padma Vibhushan award.

She is also expected to join the illustrious list of great-Indians-who-make-us-proud-to-be-Indians in the extremely popular email forward - 'Facts to make every Indian proud' where she will be featured as answer to Question No. 9 - Who is the winner of Global Diversity Award 2008? Answer - Shilpa Shetty
