SINGH IS KING was written off as a failure by many so called critics. The movie has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of 2008 with a collection of 94 crores in the second week. Now it must have crossed 125 crores.
The entire movie is carried on the shoulders of Happy Singh ( AK) who wants everyone to be happy in his village. He invariably tries to help others who are in trouble, causing them more damage, in all innocence. Ultimately he has become a pain in arse of everyone, who decide him to get rid of him. They plot that he has to rescue Lucky Singh who happens to be his brother and bring back to the village. Lucky singh is associated with crime in a big way down under. Happy singh and Om puri embark on a journey wherein their boarding passes are exchanged and they accidently land in Egypt.
Lot of comic sequences precedes such Akshay trying to catch a foul, then he chases and catches a thief in Egypt for an empty purse or his gal ( Katrina ) All the scenes are well picturised, and the song with Pyramids as the background is well shot. Unfortunately it is a dream song of Happy Singh. They now have to get back to down under to rescue Lucky Singh and reform him. Meanwhile Happy singh and Om Puri is taken care by Kiron kher, who daughter Katrina turns out to be.
Katrina loves Ranbir, how they fall in love is kept a suspense in the movie, never explored. They arrive down under to get married. Meanwhile all the crooks who are slowly reformed in the Singh’s gang come to know about the secret yearning of Happy who is crowned as KING due to injury of the original Lucky king. He is wheel chair ridden and becomes dumb due to injury on his head. A sequence of funny events take place without much of sense and how the movie ends is real natural yearning of all the audience. See the movie and come out singing SINGH IS KINNG. The real enjoyment for an audience is to see it appealing to all the sardars who literally dance in the movie hall when Snoop dog’s no is played. The cinematography of the movie is very good.
Some say it is copy of Jackie chaan's movie, some author claims it is his original story known as the Boss pirated, but i believe some incidents and sequence are coincidential. Just enjoy the biggest blockbuster of 2008
